This term, our film series celebrates horror icon Vincent Price in roles from four decades of his long and varied career. We’ll start with Tower of London (1939), a lurid retelling of Richard III that mingles Shakespearean grandeur with the macabre. For the 1940s, we’ll watch Price revel in the Gothic atmosphere of Dragonwyck (1946) and the charms of leading lady Gene Tierney. Our selection for the 1950s is House of Wax (1953), starring Price as a disfigured genius whose wax models are disturbingly realistic. We’ll end by reuniting Price with Tower of London costars Basil Rathbone and Boris Karloff for the gloriously dark Comedy of Terrors (1963). Each screening begins with an introduction and ends with lively group discussion.
