This term the film festival turns the spotlight on Joan Crawford, with four films from the iconic star’s long career. We start with a sample of her silent era youth in the Lon Chaney classic, The Unknown (1927), and then move on to her Pre-Code period with the lively Dancing Lady (1933), co-starring Clark Gable. We catch up with Crawford again in the 1940s for some melodrama with A Woman’s Face (1941), and we end in the early 1950s with The Damned Don’t Cry (1950). Join the class for romance, betrayal, and lots of drama from one of classic Hollywood’s most celebrated stars. Each session begins with an introduction to the film and ends with a group discussion following the screening.
