Gelli Plate Printing

October 29, 2019 @ 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Leader: Lori Connors

This class will allow students to create their own unique designs with Gelli plate printing. The process begins with a clear, gelatinous slab. Using a brayer, paint is rolled onto the surface of the Gelli plate. Once paint is applied to the surface, participants can select from a variety of materials, such as bubble wrap, burlap, string, etc. Placing the material onto the paint covered Gelli pad, then removing it creates a pattern that can be transferred onto paper. To create multi-textured designs, layering of patterns and use of multiple colors is encouraged. The finished designs can be either painted on or used as decorative paper – which can either be cropped, punched, or used in paper mosaics, journals, or card-making. The possibilities are endless! A $50 supply fee covers the cost of supplies (paint, Gelli plate, paper, brushes, etc.). The class coordinator will provide instructions for fee payment before the first day of class
