In this introductory class, participants will learn how to sniff, swirl, sip, taste, savor, and discuss wine versus simply drinking this delightful beverage. We will cover typical characteristics of several popular grape varieties, the components of wine, how to read an aroma chart and learn how to develop your palate, wine terminology, whether the glass makes a difference, how to correctly open a bottle of wine, how to talk to the sommelier, what to do when they hand you the glass, and more. At the end of this 2-hour class, you will be much more conversant about wine. This fun and fast-paced introductory class features sparkling wine tastings throughout to give a firm footing for continued wine education. Fee: $35.
