This course is based on the author’s recently published book, Let’s Move to China, Ma Cherie!
Learn what it was like to move a young family across the globe to Shanghai, an international city of intrigue, and then live three years in the People’s Republic of China. The year was 2003, and China had only recently opened its doors to foreigners to live and work within its borders.

The first class will introduce Adela, our intrepid traveler, and describe how she settles into life in exotic Shanghai. The second class will focus on the city of Shanghai, often called the Paris of Asia, where East met West in the early 20th century, and famous places to tour abound. The third class will compare daily life in tightly-controlled communist China to life in more Westernized Asian countries, and reveal the dramatic conclusion to Adela’s five years in Asia.
