North Alabama offers a wide variety of wildflowers throughout the year. Local experts will identify and discuss various species.
Mar. 5: George Hanna will present where to find wildflowers in North Alabama, including where the best trails are and when to visit the big shows.
Mar. 13: Harold Holmes, world expert on trilliums, will present trilliums and ginger plants.
Mar. 19: Brian Finzel will present rare plants of the Southeast, featuring plants from the Gulf Coast cedar glades, sandstone rock outcrops, Blue Ridge Mountains, and Cumberland rock houses.
Mar. 26: Jack Carman, author of Wildflowers of Tennessee, will present the wildflowers of Alabama and discuss how to identify them.

On April 3, interested members are invited to tour the Huntsville Botanical Gardens and see the Native Plant Garden where many wildflowers will be blooming, as well as Harold Holmes’ Trillium and Ginger Garden and the Vernon Bush Azalea Trail, which holds thousands of
native azaleas. Guides will be provided and Harold Holmes and Vernon Bush may attend.
Admission is free for Huntsville Botanical Garden members; non-members must pay a
$12 admission fee.
