First of Four Programs: Huntsville and Alabama Artifacts

George Marchelos will tell intriguing stories and display many Huntsville and Alabama artifacts he has collected through the years as a local history professor and PBS Antiques Roadshow appraiser. Sampling includes: land grant records for Bell Factory signed by Andrew Jackson; book signed by Clement Clay; the story of Clement Clay Jr., one of two Confederate Secret Service agents meeting with John Wilkes Booth to discuss kidnapping Abraham Lincoln; a rare letter pertaining to South Alabama in which much interest has been expressed by the U. S. Postal Museum. As a college student, after meeting Dr. Werner von Braun, the presenter avidly collected space memorabilia and will present some of this collection.
