This course explores new possibilities of enhancing appreciation for a wide range of music, from classical composers to jazz improvisation and other popular genres. Each session explores a particular connection of music to other fields: poetry; the visual arts; philosophy; politics; gender/sexuality; online media; the art of transcription; and amateur performance. The course combines brief lectures with discussion. It is designed to appeal to a wide range of participants with various interests and backgrounds.
