Sepsis, a bacterial infection sometimes called blood poisoning by the general public, is the body’s too often deadly response to infection or injury. Sepsis and sepsis shock can result from any infection, such as pneumonia, influenza, urinary tract infections, dental abscesses, or Group B Streptococcus. Learn the signs and symptoms (there is no single sign or symptom), preventive practices, treatment and what you should do if you suspect sepsis in yourself or a loved one.
