2-Building on the Moon

July 15 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

This course explores the reasons why we should establish a lunar colony.  As an inspiration: a moon colony would greatly stimulate the interest of young people in science & engineering.  To foster international cooperation: the Space Station was a multinational endeavor, and a lunar colony could be as well. To improve the study of geology and science: the moon is the “attic” of the earth, with rocks not changed as much due to lack of atmosphere and seismic activity. To improve the study of asteroids: billions of years of asteroid impacts are preserved on the moon, as scars on the surface are unaffected by an atmosphere.  To access resources: the moon has a wealth of raw materials available for mining, even including water. And to establish new beginnings: with a moon colony, we begin our trek to a becoming a multi-world species.
