60-Birds of Prey
Enjoy a presentation featuring a Red-tailed Hawk, an American Kestrel, a Barn Owl, and a Eurasian Eagle Owl. These raptors, three of which are native to this area, are birds of the Rise Raptor Project, a group promoting the understanding and preservation of birds of prey. They will be discussed with an emphasis on the adaptations that separate them from birds we see on a daily basis. Size isn’t the only factor, as the Kestrel is the size of an American Robin. The program will discuss the ecology of these birds, including habitat, food, and conservation efforts. The birds will not be flown, but will be available for close pictures. Note: because of possible health and wellness issues, all birds may not be available on the day of the program. This program will be held at Residences at Wellpoint; 2940 Mill Run Rd; Owens Cross Roads, AL 35763. Max: 60
