F5-Astronomy 101

Astronomy 101 is a four-session introductory course designed to hep participants explore the night sky with confidence and curiosity. Each session covers a key topic, including navigating the night sky, understanding telescope optical systems and mount designs, developing an observing progression, and learning what celestial objects to observe through Messier and other astronomical catalogs. A unique feature of this course is the hands-on experience it provides. After each lecture, attendees will head out to the observing field to use telescopes and apply what they’ve learned in real time, gaining practical skills alongside foundational knowledge. Classes will be held at the Von Braun Astronomical Society Planetarium; 100 Observatory Drive, SE; Huntsville, AL 35801. Fee: $30 Min/Max: 10/25
