P4-Selma Campaign

The nation’s attention was focused on the small Alabama town of Selma during the Spring of 1965. The violence surrounding the campaign to register Black voters shocked the country and the world and played a vital part in the passage of landmark legislation, the Voting Rights Act of 1965. We’ll look at these events in Alabama during that spring, the people who played a part on both sides of the confrontation, and the major changes that resulted from the events. We’ll recount in detail the vicious attack on Civil Rights activists at the Edmund Pettus Bridge and the resulting March to Montgomery.
