The German philosopher Martin Heidegger has offered one of the most wide-ranging reflections on language in the technological age. Language for him is not merely a medium for personal expression but also the ground for the revelation or concealment of all living beings and things in the world. Language’s potential is essentially auditive, requiring our attentive listening before it can materialize itself in speech and writing.
